STAR==DUST
View from the installation STAR==DUST
at Liljevalchs Museum Stockholm
Brief description:
The room is darkened.
Upon entering, one is embalmed in a deep, vibrant sound,
which creates a mixed impression of calmness and insecurity.
There is a big waterhole in the middle of the room, covered with
salt up to its borders. A greenish light appears from the inside.
When approaching, the spectator discovers that the waterhole
contains an almost infinite number of small bodies,
moving incessantly with considerable speed: human sperms,
approaching nervously a big ovule - created with 3-D computer graphics .
Behind this, a semicircle of about 10 meters, filled with
ashes (human?) and lit by five feeble small lamps
- another evocation of the cycle of human life.
Against the wall a high pillar, supporting
a small video monitor showing a sleeping child.
Whispering voices surround the pillar:
a female voice reading a 14th Century Japanese love poem
and a Yuchi indian singing a lullaby in his native language.
